“The team at Cedar were very informative and professional at all times, they considered the needs of me as a customer with efficient and straightforward communication. The high level of service has continued post installation and it is clear that excellent customer service is the heart of the companies’ core values.”
We were approached by a local builder to address issues his client was having with her air source heat pump.
Despite the fact that the heat pump worked as it should, it had been installed without being correctly sized. Although it had a nominal output of 5kW, it’s performance was so poor that it was unable to meet the needs of the property. This left the homeowner having to choose between hot water and heating as the heat pump couldn’t supply both at once.
Luckily the installation had insurance cover and the problem was referred to B.A.R & Sons, to carry out the remedial design and installation work.
We visited the property to conduct a full room by room heat loss survey. Once we had all the dimensions for the property we were able to begin work on an MCS approved system design. Under MCS regulations we are required to produce a design for both the heat pump and the space heating and domestic hot water. This is to ensure that the entire system produces sufficient heat and hot water on even the coldest days.
Our design showed the 2 year old, semi-detached property to have quite a modest heating requirement. We suggested supplying one of Dimplex’s brand new A6M air source heat pumps.
The client also requested that we should relocate the heat pump from outside the property to further down their garden.
The original installation had been carried out by a builder who wasn’t MCS accredited and the homeowner hadn’t been able to benefit from the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive. With our system design they were able to successfully apply for the Domestic RHI.
Upon completion the client was kind enough to forward her comments on our work! If you have an issue with your renewable installation, contact B.A.R & Sons to see what we can do for you.
