Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR)
Previous System: None
New System: Stiebel Eltron Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery MVHR, Stiebel Eltron WPL-25 Air Source Heat Pump, underfloor heating and screed, full plumbing and electrical installation
We were asked to provide a quotation for the supply and installation of an Air Source Heat Pump for a new build property near Newark in Nottinghamshire. Having met with the clients and explained the variety of work we were able to undertake, the client asked us to provide a full quotation for all the electrical, plumbing and heating works.
In addition they requested a quotation for the supply and installation of a Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) system. This is something we are able to supply, with the system being designed, supplied and commissioned by Stiebel Eltron.
Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) Design
Having received a full set of architects plans Stiebel Eltron were able to start work on producing a design, including specifying an LWZ-280 Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit, ductwork lengths and routing through loft and ceiling spaces.
As the design was finalised, our other installation works went ahead at the clients property, including first fix plumbing and electrical works and supplying the underfloor heating and screeding for the ground floor.
Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) Installation
Once we had the finalised 3D CAD design from Stiebel Eltron, we began installation work. Stiebel Eltron normally recommend that the Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) duct work is installed in the screed, around the edge of the room, as, when it’s installed in a passive house, it is expected to provide all the heating for the property.
However, as the screed is to be heated, this was not possible. Instead of the usual flat, square section ducting, we installed flexible ducting, running in the loft and ceiling spaces.
Works on this property are still ongoing, with the second fix electrical works underway and we will shortly be installing a Stiebel Eltron WPL-25 Air Source Heat Pump, to provide heating for the property.
The fact that BAR & Sons were able to provide all the installation works and the very competitive pricing of the excellent, high quality Stiebel Eltron LWZ-280 Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) system, were key to us winning the contract, as it allowed the client to deal with a single point of contact for heating, plumbing, ventilation and electrics.
This is much more straightforward and cost effective, for both the installer and ultimately the client.
