New System: To provide a hotel pool and spa boiler installation with heating and hot water for the spa saunas, vitality pool and treatment rooms. We also needed to integrate the heating system with an Air Handling Unit and provide new a gas supply.

Hotel pool and spa boiler installation, underfloor heating installation and plumbing works.

We were approached by the owner of a local country hotel, Ye Olde Bell, at Barnby Moor, Nottinghamshire, to discuss specifying, designing, supplying and installing heating equipment necessary for a Hotel pool and spa rooms, underfloor heating and plumbing works for a new spa complex, to be built in the hotel’s grounds.

We were delighted to assist and began looking at options to provide the most cost effective solution to meet the extensive and complex requirements. Our M & E designer began calculating the spa’s requirements and what would be needed to meet them. We initially explored integrating their existing biomass boilers, which served the hotel, but this proved not to be advantageous.

The  installation works for the Hotel pool and spa included calculating the requirements for a large, partly outdoor vitality pool and the underfloor heating which was required throughout the building. In addition, our supplied equipment had to provide heating for the air handling units that were needed to manage the air quality, humidity and temperature in the spa. Additionally, we would be required to supply and install all the interior plumbing works for the saunas, treatment rooms, changing rooms and hair salon.

Ultimately the most cost effective solution proved not to be a renewable one, in this instance and B.A.R & Sons proposed supplying and installing a cascade of three, 100 kilowatt, Worcester-Bosch commercial gas boilers to provide heating and hot water for the spa and two, 65 kilowatt Worcester-Bosch commercial gas boilers to provide heating for the pool.

In addition to the boilers, we also specified a twin booster pump set, to provide a sufficient cold water supply for the spa and a separate booster pump to supply the pool for back washing.

In order to supply gas for the gas boilers, in two separate boiler rooms and to supply gas for a laundry, as well as for three feature fires, we also needed to supply and install an underground gas main from the existing incoming hotel gas supply, to the two spa plantrooms.

Because of the breadth of skills, experience and qualifications held by our installers and by the installers of our sister companies, we were able to undertake all the works in house.

In addition, in order to complete the work required by other specialist trades on site, we have worked closely with a number of other suppliers based around the country and as far afield as Germany.

Work is well underway, with the spa being due to open in Spring 2017.
