Froling Small commercial biomass at Hill Top Farm
Previous System: Ageing Oil Boiler
New System: Froling Small commercial biomass
Froling Small Commercial Biomass
This installation of a Froling Small commercial biomass boiler, took place in December 2014 and was to provide heating for two large, detached farmhouses and a large, farm workshop area.
After examining several options, the client had already decided to go for a Froling biomass boiler, due to their outstanding reputation and selected Cedar Renewables to carry out the work. We supplied and installed the Froling 60kW Small commercial biomass boiler in the farm’s workshop, complete with a 2,000 litre buffer tank expansion vessel and all other associated equipment.
In order to convey the heat generated by the Froling Small commercial biomass boiler, into the two domestic properties, we installed Calpex Duo pre-insulated underground heat main between the boiler room and the farmhouses. As is standard practice, we connected to the property’s existing heating circuits via plate-to-plate heat exchangers, to protect the new boiler equipment form contamination with any debris that might be present within the old radiators and pipework.
In addition, we also supplied and installed a Volcano VR Fan Space Heater, to heat the farm workshop in winter.
The client also opted for a 10 tonne, galvanised steel, bulk pellet silo; ideal for an installation of this nature and adding to the already very low maintenance inputs required.
On returning to the property to carry out a follow up visit, both householders told us that they were very pleased with the improvements in their central heating performance. The owner of the system will also receive the “Small Commercial” biomass tariff, for the Non-Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) payments for the next 20 years, which will pay back more than double the cost of the installation.
