Froling PE1 Wood Pellet Boiler

We were contacted by a local home owner in early 2017, enquiring about heating their property with a biomass boiler. Their plans involved extensively refurbishing the property, including fitting underfloor heating throughout the ground and first floors, and a new domestic hot water cylinder. The only heating in the property was provided by an old multi-fuel stove. We completed the heat loss calculations and system design and having discussed various options, the customer decided to opt for a Froling PE1 Wood Pellet Boiler.

The installation works did not commence until autumn of 2018 and started with the construction of an external boiler house, to house the boiler, buffer tank and fuel hopper. At this stage we supplied and installed an insulated underground heat main to carry the hot water from the boiler house into the property.

As the property had been extended over time, resulting in several different floor types, it was decided to lift the existing floors and have these re-screeded, with an in-screed underfloor heating system. The oldest part of the property had a suspended floor which required a concrete slab to be laid along with new insulation. Following this the underfloor heating was installed and then the screed was laid. Throughout the first floor we supplied and fitted insulated overlay boards and the underfloor heating system.

Following the completion of the boiler house, we installed the Froling PE1 Wood Pellet Boiler, buffer tank, fuel hopper and vacuum fuel delivery system in the new boiler house. Within the property, we also supplied and fitted the new cylinder. The system was commissioned and property is now fully heated for the first time.

As an MCS accredited company, the installation will also be suitable for the Domestic Renewable Heat Incentive, which will pay the customer for the heat their property is deemed to need.
